Other Seismo-Watch Special Earthquake Reports Notations: An earthquake registering a preliminary magnitude of ML 4.2 (SCSN) occurred at 15:53:00 UTC (8:53 a.m. PDT), April 18, along the California/Baja, Mexico border. The focal point placed at 1.6 km deep beneath the surface and we do not have a fault plane solution as of yet.   The quake was centered about 16 miles southwest of Ocotillo and about 4 miles south of the small border community of Jacumba, in northern Baja California. (See Map) The fault which produced the earthquake is not known at this time.   There was a M3.6 foreshock at 7:33 a.m. earlier in the morning.   Although there have been no reports at this time, it is likely to have been felt throughout southern San Diego and parts of Imperial County. It was the fifth M4 quake recorded in the area this year, three in the same location and one closer to Ocotillo. Click here is read about the M4.1 on April 6.     Did you feel this tremor?
