Selected Regional Seismograms
Network: Northern California Detailed Seismic Network
Station: Berkeley
What is amazing about large global earthquakes is that the seismic wavers are picked up on regional seismic networks as well. Below is a trace from the Berkeley Station in the Northern California Detailed Seismic Network. Notice the semi-continuous horizontal traces till about the 20th hour when the seismic waves reached this northern California station and nearly saturated the bandwidth for the next few hours - a remarkable demonstration of the power of these large, distant earthquakes.
