| False alarm for Northern California Coast Range Quake
November 30, 2001 Preliminary information indicated that an earthquake registering a magnitude (M) 4.1 occurred just before 3 a.m. this morning in the northern California Coast Range near Cloverdale. Further analysis by the Northern California Seismic Network (NCSN) determined this was a false alarm and a non-tectonic event. The earthquake was removed from the catalog. No information was given as to the origin of the trigger.
