| CONWAY, ARKANSAS, May 4, 2001 (Seismo-Watch) -- Preliminary data indicates that an earthquake measuring M4.4 (NEIC) occurred at 06:42:12 UTC (1:42 a.m. local time), May 4 about 32 miles north of Little Rock and 15 miles northeast of Conway, near Enola, Arkansas.

The earthquake was centered about 3 miles southwest of Enola and just south of Turkey Creek, near the junction of Haggard Lane and Marcus Hill Road. The focal depth was estimated at 10 km for quick processing and we do not have a fault plane solution as of yet. Preliminary reports indicate the quake was widely felt in Central Arkansas and as far away as souther Missouri, western Tennessee and northern Mississippi.
